Garden Rooms North West

The EKitz garden room extension kit

Our extension kits contain everything you need to install your own garden room using structural insulated panels – SIPs, as the construction method.

SIPs are panels of oriented strand board sandwiched together with super thermally-efficient foam.

The SIPS panels are prefabricated and then cut to customers’ dimensions at our factory in Radcliffe, Manchester, North West England, before being delivered directly to the construction location.

You can find more information about SIPs here.

Can garden rooms be used all year round?

Garden buildings created with SIPs construction methods are strong and super-insulated, with double glazing as standard. The SIPs construction method produces an extremely airtight building with no gaps for heat to escape from or cold draughts to creep into.

This superior construction ensures that your garden room will stay snug through the wet North West winter, making it ideal for a permanent home office.

Your garden extension will even be cosy enough to provide a comfortable area for a family member who wants their own living space.

How quickly can a garden room extension kit be installed?

A competent North West home builder with some relevant experience could construct a garden room from one of our kits in about a week.. A building professional would require less time. Plumbing, electrical works, and decorations will take longer, of course.

This speedy construction is possible because we provide the SIPs precut to the exact size required. The construction process dispenses with the need for other construction trades like bricklayers and joiners on site.

Are SIPS garden rooms environmentally friendly?

Our SIPs panels and the garden buildings they are used to construct are extremely sustainable in several ways.

  • SIPs panels have high thermal efficiency, so the garden room requires less heat energy than many traditionally built structures.
  • SIPs panels are cut to exact sizes, producing minimal waste in the fabrication process.
  • The wood used in the panels is responsibly sourced from forests managed by the Forest Stewardship Council.
  • The panels are strong but extremely light, so they are light to transport, requiring less fuel.
  • A SIPs construction will last many years and require minimal repairs with additional materials.
  • The materials used are pest-resistant and fire-resistant to a high standard, ensuring longevity.

How much do SIPS extension kits cost?

Every extension kit is created to the customers’ unique dimensions, so it is difficult to estimate the typical cost.

However, if you enter your project’s dimensions into our quick quote calculator, we can provide an indicative quotation.

Once we have your confirmed dimensions, we can confirm a price that won’t change.

Our customers in the North West of England love that the costs for their SIPs garden room are fixed at the start of the project, as this helps them budget for the rest of the build.

Will I need planning permission for my garden room?

Most garden buildings follow permitted development rules and don’t need planning permission; however, you should check that your project qualifies before you order your kit.

Planning officers are mainly concerned about three issues.

The dimensions of the project:

The average size of a garden room in the North West is around 20 square meters, and most of our customers find this ample space.

The garden room’s proximity to your neighbour’s boundary:

Your garden buildings should not be too near your neighbour’s boundary, overlook their garden, or look into their house.

The way you intend to use the garden room:

If you plan to run a business which involves visits from customers or colleagues, there could be implications for parking and noise, which may require planning permission.

We have extensive experience in obtaining planning permission and will be happy to advise you and answer any questions you may have about the planning process.
